PAIR OF CHINESE SEATED TERRACOTTA MUSICIANS - TL TESTED.
Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A pair of terracotta female musicians. The figures are dressed in long robes with a short-sleeved, cropped overcoat; the outfits are painted with pigments. Each figure is seated while holding their instruments: a harp and cymbals, respectively.

Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
