PAIR OF CHINESE SEATED TERRACOTTA MUSICIANS - TL TESTED. Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A pair of terracotta female musicians. The figures are dressed in long robes with a short-sleeved, cropped overcoat; the outfits are painted with pigments. Each figure is seated while holding their instruments: a harp and cymbals, respectively. For similar see: San Francisco Asian Art Museum, object no B60P318. Size: 240-250mm x 130-130mm; Weight: 2.3kg Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
