PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA SEATED MUSICIANS - TL TESTED.
Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618-907 A pair of terracotta seated musicians. Their hair is arranged in a double-knot and a high coiffure respectively, both dressed in a long skirt, with short over-jacket. The two ladies are depicted playing the drum and flute respectively. Size: 235-240mm x 125-130mm; Weight: 2.11kg. Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla.
