PAIR OF CHINESE TERRACOTTA SEATED MUSICIANS - TL TESTED. Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618-907 A pair of terracotta seated musicians. Both have their hair tied in high knot, dressed in a long skirt, both painted in orange, with short over-jacket. The two ladies are depicted playing the pipa and cymbals respectively. Size: 230-240mm x 140-140mm; Weight: 2.28kg. Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla.
