PAIR OF EGYPTIAN STONE SCARABS.
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC
A pair of scarabs, including, from left to right: a translucent green stone scarab with a domed back modelled with clypeus, prominent thorax and elytra marked by three incised lines, the underside cut with a lattice pattern; and an opaque red stone scarab with a rounded back, the thorax set off from the head by a shallow transverse groove and the elytra divided by a single longitudinal line, the base plain and oval. Both are drilled lengthwise for suspension or mounting.
Size: 12-14mm x 8-9mm; Weight: 2.4g.
Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Switzerland; formerly with C.B. collection, 1970s-1990s.
