PAIR OF GNATHIAN OLPAE. Ca. 350 - 300 BC. A pair of black-glazed olpae, each with a rounded body that tapers towards a stepped base and with a single handle curving from the shoulder to the neck. The one on the left displays added polychrome decoration consisting of horizontal bands in white and red, accompanied by a row of dotted motifs above and below. The other has a simpler decoration of white and yellow dots encircling the neck. For similar see: The Spurlock Museum, 1921.01.0008.
