PAIR OF ROMAN BRONZE APPLIQUÉS Ca. AD 200 - 400. A pair of bronze appliqués, each cast in relief with a hollow underside. The one on the left depicts a bearded male mask with a deeply furrowed brow, short nose, and prominent moustache and beard cascading in vertical locks. His hair is swept back in voluminous tufts. The second appliqué represents the head of Medusa, with a rounded face framed by wavy hair and two large, raised wings emerging from the crown.
