PAIR OF SILVER-GILT BYZANTINE BRACELETS WITH CROSS AND GLASS CABOCHONS Ca. AD 600.
A pair of silver-gilt bracelets, each comprising an openwork cuff and a hinged square clasp. The cuffs are decorated with a row of three circular openwork medallions, each enclosing a six-petalled rosette with triangular piercings between the petals. The borders are framed by finely hatched bands. Each clasp is set with a central oval glass cabochon, surrounded by four teardrop-shaped inlays interspersed with small circular settings, all arranged around a cross motif. Raised studs are positioned along the edges of the clasps.
