PAIR OF TANG DYNASTY TERRACOTTA FEMALE ATTENDANTS. Ca. AD 618 - 907. A pair of hollow, freestanding terracotta female attendants, each depicted standing and dressed in a long, flowing robe that extends to the ground, forming a sturdy base. The tips of their shoes are visible at the hemline. Each upper body is wrapped in a shawl that crosses diagonally over the chest, with one figure retaining red pigmentation on the shawl, while the other displays traces of green. Their hands are positioned at the waist, clasping a long, pleated textile that drapes down the front. The faces are delicately modelled with finely rendered features, including almond-shaped eyes, arched brows, and small lips with remnants of red pigment. The hair is styled in an elaborate double-looped bun, symmetrically arranged atop the head. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 2015.500.7.3.
