PAIR OF VIKING BRONZE COMBS. Ca. AD 800 - 1100. A pair of bronze combs, each with an openwork design and a suspension loop at the top. The teeth are evenly spaced, tapering to fine points, and extend from a slightly curved lower edge. The comb on the left has a symmetrical structure with two large, rounded cut-outs separated by two smaller circular perforations. The second comb features an arched upper section with an open lattice pattern composed of diamond-shaped perforations. Size: 55-60mm x 40-40mm; Weight: 30g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / International art markets.
