Pair of English dispatch rider boots. English boots in their original condition. High shaft boots, originally intended for motorbike dispatch riders, many photos attest to their use in the trenches. Fake pair but really homogeneous. Laced with 13 pairs of eyelets, laces missing. Top of stem with adjoining leggings closing with 3 straps and buckles, all present. Broad arrow in dotted line on top of shaft of right boot, and number 8 on top of shaft of left boot. Insole dated 1916 on the left, 1917 on the right. Studded outsoles, shod toe and heel. Wear and repairs. Repair to heel of left boot. Needs cleaning, leather still relatively supple. Pair of British Dispatch Rider's BootsTall leather dispatch rider's boots as found. Originally issued to motorbike messengers, also seen worn in the trenches. Mismatched but well-matched pair. Lace-up front with thirteen eyelets, laces missing. Upper section fitted with integrated gaiters closing with three brass buckled straps, all present. Dotted Broad Arrow marking on right boot shaft, "8" on left. Insoles dated 1916 (left) and 1917 (right). Clouted soles with steel toe and heel plates. Worn but supple leather with minor repairs.
