Height: 17.8 cm Basins engraved with coats of arms Biography: Charles-Nicolas Odiot was the son of Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot. He joined the family business in 1823 and registered his hallmark in 1826. At his father's request, he went to London to learn mechanised techniques and the "English style", inspired by the George III style. The pieces created during this period are emblematic of the period, as shown by our pair of coasters. In 1831, Charles-Nicolas Odiot designed the eponymous service for Count Paul Demidoff, brother of Prince Anatole Demidoff and husband of Princess Mathilde Bonaparte, which is still marketed by ODIOT. In addition, in 1816, Nicolas Demidoff (1773-1828) commissioned Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot to produce an important dinner service comprising more than 219 pieces, some of which are kept in the Louvre, such as the pot à oille (OA 12162).
