PAIR OF ARMCHAIRS in ironwood, with carved and openwork decoration of scrolls, garlands of ruyi, with mother-of-pearl inlays forming motifs of flowers and foliage, the backs inlaid with baluster-shaped dream stones evoking mountain landscapes, the armrests also inlaid with small dream stones. The seats are covered with silk and linen cushions embroidered with cranes and deer among peonies. China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), second half of the 19th century.
