In chased and gilded bronze, the canted shaft terminating in claw feet, resting on a circular base surrounded by a frieze of water leaves.

A pair of Empire gilt and bronze candlesticks, after the model by Claude Galle (1759-1815)
Three pairs of comparable torches were delivered by Claude Galle to Fontainebleau in 1804 and 1805 (inv. F626, F674 and F1165C).
One pair of these is now kept in the Emperor's small bedroom at the Château de Fontainebleau (cf. V. Drouget, Fontainebleau La Vraie Demeure des Rois, Swan éditeur, 2015, p.260).
