Pair of embroidered curtains and valance, Canton workshops, China, circa 1880, celadon-coloured satin with polychrome silk embroidery in flat and shaded pastels of bamboo groves, chrysanthemums and tree peonies populated by pheasants and numerous birds. Taffeta lining, (one panel with small stains and uniform discolouration), 265 x 120 cm, valance 248 x 58 cm.
