Pair of champlevé enamel on copper vases, Japan, 19th century Of archaic hu form, decorated on the neck with two fine friezes showing attributes of Daikoku and other deities of happiness (hammer, ingot, elephant tusks, pearls, bag, etc.) surrounding a band of phoenixes, paulownia (kiri) and foliage, on the body with large motifs of four ruyi, all on a turquoise blue background, a pair of handles in the form of stylised birds or chimeras, four-character sigillary mark on the base.
