Pair of hand screens embroidered China, "bought in Canton in 1887", Black lacquered wood frame with engraved flower and bird motifs, circular satin leaves embroidered with polychrome silk in shaded pastel on both sides. One is decorated with a lakeside landscape with wading birds in pink monochrome, the second with a vivid decoration of peacocks and flowering shrubs (one handle is fragile, the second has very slight stains, otherwise good condition). Preserved in their shaped box bearing a handwritten label, (accident on the box).
