PALLADIO (Andrea). Architecture. The Hague, Pierre Gosse, 1726. 2 volumes in one folio, marbled basane, spine decorated (Binding of the period). New edition of the translation by the architect Nicholas Du Bois published by the Venetian architect Giacomo Leoni, with notes by Inigo Jones. The illustration consists of an allegorical frontispiece engraved by Picart after Riccio, a portrait of Palladio by Picart after Caliari, and 203 full-page figures, including 15 fold-outs, engraved in intaglio by Cole, Gucht, Harris and Picart. Spidering and rubbing to the binding, a tear to the upper headpiece, corners dulled, two of which have been clumsily restored. Some foxing.
