PALLADIO (Andrea). L'Architettura, divisa in quattro libri. Venice, Marcantonio Brogiollo, 1642. In-folio, ivory vellum, smooth spine, red edges (Italian binding of the period). A fine and rare Venetian edition of Palladio's Architecture, based on the edition published by Campanello in 1601. It is profusely illustrated with engravings in the text, mostly full-page, and adorned with a title engraved with Valegio's portico. Handwritten note to title: bought in Rome on 9 July 1813, via del Porto, paid 3 Roman ecus. A later engraving Casa di Palladio pasted on the endpaper. 19th century and modern annotations by several hands on the endpapers and in the margins. Some spotting and foxing. Two corners dulled, a tear at the base of the second plate.
