PANCIROLI, Guido. - Notitia utraque, dignitatum, cum orientis, tum occidentis, ultra Arcadii Honoriique tempora. Et in eam Guidi Panciroli... Commentarium in quo civiles militaresque magistratus - Venetiis, Apud Antonium & Iacobum de Franciscis, 1602 - 4 parts bound in an in-folio volume of (14), 198, (2), 30 ff ; ivory vellum, handwritten title on spine, traces of straps (Contemporary binding). Third edition, the second by Guido Panciroli. The "Notitia" comes from an anonymous manuscript created before 408 AD. This "state manual" is still an important and significant source for the study of the political organisation of the Roman Empire, not least because of its cultural and historical richness. Among other things, it contains a description of the cities of Rome and Constantinople. There are around 90 woodcuts showing carriages, robes, insignia, books, papyrus scrolls, means of payment, buildings, antiquities, allegories, etc. Bound in contemporary ivory vellum, a copy affected by some galling and wetness that do not affect consultation; dry stamps with the Espinac arms.
