This embroidered panel is part of the tradition of Islamic devotional textiles inspired by the kiswa of the Kaʿba, produced particularly in Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula in the XXᵉ century. Sura 112 al-Ikhlas, often chosen to adorn this type of embroidery, concisely sets out the doctrine of divine oneness, and its presence on the textile underlines the devotional function of the object. A similar example was sold at Artcurial on 21 May 2025, lot 110.
