Bramè 12.20 x 9.37 in. 31 x 23.8 cm Provenance: Rossella Gilli Collection, Paris Mario di Giampaolo attributed the work to Paolo Bramè by comparing it with a similar composition in the same technique, signed and dated 1597 (Naples, Rosa di Villarosa Collection). Variations can be seen in the borders, which are composed of several different small scenes. The central composition is based on the Deposition in a drawing by Marco Pino held at Princeton University1. Paolo Bramè, an artist from Palermo who was influenced by Marco Pino, lived in Rome from 1590 to 1605, where he worked as a miniaturist at the papal court. 1.
