PAQUEBOT "NORMANDIE" and COMPAGNIE GENERALE TRANSATLANTIQUE - 1935 Extremely rare red enamelled Transatlantic train plaque, in the shape of a coat of arms, domed and crossed across with a white band with the globe and "Cie Gle TRANSATLANTIQUE" in red. Raised on the red background "French Line". Made by Lémaillo gravure Paris Émaillerie Alsacienne à Strasbourg". With three holes for hanging 50 x 48 cm (some enamel leaks and missing parts) Bibliography * These 1935 plates were hung on the special trains booked by the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique that ran from Paris to the Le Havre ferry terminal. * Filmed in Jean Vivié's extraordinary colour film "A bord du Normandie", shot in August 1939 during the Normandie liner's last crossing.
