PARAZ (Albert). Valsez saucisses. Paris, Amiot & Dumont, 1950. Paperback, 360 pp.
One of 200 numbered copies of the first edition on B.F.K. vellum, the only large paper, with Paraz's autograph signature under the justification. The frontispiece depicts Louis-Ferdinand Céline's "chacal-âne-scorpion". Albert Paraz (1899-1957) was a French novelist and journalist, known for his polemical writing and literary commitment. His book Valsez Saucisses was the second part of a pamphleteering trilogy that also included Le Gala des vaches and Le Menuet du haricot. In these works, Paraz defended Louis-Ferdinand Céline, who had taken refuge in Denmark after the Second World War, against accusations of treason and collaboration. Céline, who was awaiting trial in France, was actively supported by Paraz, who published extracts from their correspondence in his books. This correspondence, often intense and strategic, shows Paraz playing a key role in Céline's public rehabilitation while integrating critical and satirical elements into his own writings.
