Paris, Chez Grange, 1747 [MDCCXLVII]. In-12°. Period full leather binding with titles and floral friezes in gold on the spine. Illustrated copper-engraved frontispiece with a rich allegorical composition of putti, prancing horses and noble coat of arms. Details of the work: This is an 18th-century French edition based on the celebrated works of William Cavendish, Duke of Newcastle, one of the most influential figures in the history of horsemanship and High School. The work stands as a fundamental treatise on the discipline of horsemanship at the time, published 'Avec Approbation & Privilege du Roi'. Conservation status: Very well preserved specimen. The original leather binding shows slight signs of wear to the spine, but retains the gilt friezes intact. Fresh interior, crisp printing on good quality paper.
