The first French translation by Defauconpret, this was the first voyage made by the famous navigator Edward Parry to discover a north-west passage from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific. Packed with copious details of sailing conditions (scurvy, vegetables grown in chambers, a dog fighting a wolf, etc.) and the difficulties encountered, this voyage led to many discoveries, including the route to the Bering Strait, islands, fjords and capes. It contains 2 BEAUTIFUL COLOUR REHABILITATED fold-out maps, one of Captain Parry's discoveries and the other of the Boreal polar regions. Ex-libris conte Cesare S. Martino Della Motta. Freckles, false title missing. (Brunet IV, 388) (Chadenat, 4377).
