PART OF CORAN North Africa, 18th century Arabic manuscript on fine paper, 52 leaves, text written in a fine maghribi mabsut imitating medieval forms at 10 lines per page, within a red and blue frame, the first sura title "Maryam" inscribed within a band richly illuminated in gold, The following sura titles are inscribed in gold in a stylised kufic script and continue in a marginal illuminated medallion, in a red leather flap binding decorated with a brown leather medallion and gold edging. Text: extends from Sura 19 "Maryam" to verse 20 of Sura 24 "al-Nur", which in the canonical division constitutes the end of a hizb.
