Lot no. 324
Pascal Paoli (April 1725 - February 1807), general of the Corsican nation. Letter signed, 3 lines autograph, to a friend, Casinca 9 February 1757, 1 page in-8° in Italian. A few days ago, Matra went to Bastia and secretly met the commissioner. Desperate, he withdrew to the fort of Aleria with some bandits who lived in Bastia... The Republic is trying to make people admit that the Corsican nation is disunited, but we remain more united than ever. He asked that good harmony be maintained in the province. Two major pieces of information in this letter: his opposition to Matra, his main enemy, and the need for union, a recurring theme for Pascal Paoli . Tear probably due to the opening of the letter.
