What an idea to place this masterpiece in a dining room! Pasteur is referring to the large painting by Jean-Jacques Henner entitled "Les Naïades", which adorned the walls of the dining room of Mr and Mrs Soyer's private mansion at 43 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris. The painter knew their son-in-law, Paul Sédille, the architect of the Magasins du Printemps. The painting is now in the Musée Henner.
