According to the Association of Friends of Paul-César Helleu, the features of one of the artist's daughters, Ellen Helleu (b. 1887), should be recognised here, standing next to her teacher around 1897. Ellen was around ten years old at the time. A similar drawing, measuring 37 x 31 cm, and bearing the same title, appears in the association's database under the number APCH DE1-3898.
