Paul Horst-Schulze (1876 Naunhof - 1937 Leipzig) Seated young mother with child in a summer landscape View of a wide, summery landscape with meadows, two reapers and other figures in the background. A cheerful work painted in intensely bright colours by the artist, who studied at the academies in Leipzig, Munich and Düsseldorf. His first paintings were shown in 1903/04 at the Saxon Art Exhibition in Dresden and at the Berlin Secession. Horst-Schulze taught at the Royal Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Crafts from 1904, becoming a professor in 1911. The artist, who also worked as a graphic designer and so-called "Kunstgewerbler", was one of the first members of the Deutscher Werkbund in 1907. Horst-Schulze also became widely known for his illustrations and title pages for the magazine "Jugend". Oil/wood panel. R. u,. signed a. dated. 1920. 100 cm x 97 cm. Frame. Oil on panel.
