Paul Kämmerer. (1868 Stuttgart - 1950) "The power of fate: The judgement of Paris". Original title 4-part; polyptych as a complete work of art in an original frame. Large-format, symbolist masterpiece by Kämmerer. The theme of the prehistory of the Trojan War is depicted on four corresponding panels in a finely glazed style. The lower border bears the title and an explanation of the main figures in the scene on the larger panel. The three narrow, surrounding panels, on the other hand, depict the three "Moirai" of the goddesses of fate against a starry sky, spinning the thread of fate or life and cutting it with a pair of scissors. Kämmerer studied at the art school in Stuttgart and was greatly inspired by a trip to Italy. From 1900 he lived in Tägerwilen in Switzerland for a long time, and since the 1920s he has been known to have lived in Munich. From 1891, he showed his widely recognised paintings at exhibitions in the Munich Glaspalast, the Paris Salon and the Great Berlin and International Art Exhibitions in Berlin. Oil/wood panels.
