Lot no. 1908
Paul Kother (1878 Leipzig - 1963 Weimar)
Bathers
Kother's sheet, conceived in a lively style with a high-contrast, brown contour line, in which the formative influence of the "Brücke" painters Max Pechstein and Erich Heckel, but also of his long-time friend and later brother-in-law Otto Mueller, is eminent. Kother is one of the important rediscovered artists of the so-called "lost generation". In 1914, the artist moved to Berlin, where his first significant successes quickly materialised. During the "Third Reich", Kother also belonged to the ostracised "degenerate" artists as an expressionist. Pastel/paper. Wvz. No. P 58. 38.5 cm 16.5 cm (mat cut-out). Frame.
