In terms of subject matter, depiction and design, this is a characteristic work from the mature oeuvre of Padua, who lived in Rottach-Egern from 1951. By the end of the 1920s, Padua's fame had already increased, he received numerous prestigious awards and was highly regarded as a gifted portraitist of important personalities such as Franz Lehàr, Richard Strauss, Otto Hahn, Gerhart Hauptmann and Herbert Karajan.
