In addition to Berlin and the Munich Glaspalast, he also exhibited his paintings at the Munich Secession, of which he was a founding member in 1893. The artist's main subjects were evening landscapes with farmsteads, often by a river, whose depiction is characterised by intense, freshly glowing accents of colour and strong, effective contrasts of light, staffed with peasant girls as duck or goose herders.
