Ergäzungs-Heft zu Petermann's "Geographischen Mittheilungen" No. 17 and 18. Julius von Payer (Schönau (Czech Republic) 1841 - Bled (Slovenia) 1915), Austrian geographer and mountaineer, achieved many firsts in the Ortlès massif, and in 1864 made the 1st ascent of Adamello.
