PEDESTAL “AUX ESPAGNOLETTES” Louis XV style, Paris, ca. 1870/80. Attributed to Maison Millet or Blaise Millet (1829–1906). The bronzes are in part monogrammed on the back MB. Purpleheart, mahogany, tulipwood and cross-grained wood, partly in the form of veneers, inlaid on three sides in the form of flower bouquets in cartouche-shaped reserves. Strikingly curved body on a cut-out frame and curved legs with gilt bronze acanthus volute feet. Rich, chased and gilt bronzes in the form of four individualized espagnolettes, rocailles, palmettes, and leaf friezes. Rotatable red/grey/white marble top. 43.5 × 43.5 × 142 cm. Well restored condition, the bronze fittings cleaned. Marble with minimal chips to the edges. Small cracks, dents and losses to the veneer. These unmistakably and individually designed bronze busts of men and women are of excellent quality and are a specific feature that can also be found on the half-cabinet signed by Millet (see lot 1028). These pedestals are designed in the playfully picturesque Rococo style of the Louis XV period and illustrate the revival and reinterpretation of the “neo-styles” in the late 19th century. Based on the monograms MB on the backs of some of the bronzes, it can be assumed that these are products of Blaise Millet, founder of the Maison Millet company of the same name. Allseitig bombierter und markant geschweifter Korpus auf ausgeschnittener Zarge und geschweiften Beinen mit vergoldeten Bronze-Akanthusvolutenfüssen. Reiche, ziselierte und vergoldete Bronzen in Form von vier individualisierten Espagnoletten, Rocaillen, Palmetten, Filetbündel und Blätterfriesen. Drehbares, rot/grau/weisses Marmorblatt. 43,5 × 43,5 × 142 cm. Guter restaurierter Zustand, die Bronzebeschläge gereinigt. Marmor mit minimalen Randbestossungen. Kleine Risse, Dellen und Fehlstellen im Furnier. Diese unverwechselbar, individuell gestalteten Bronzebüsten von Männern und Frauen in ausgezeichneter Qualität sind ein Spezifikum, welches ebenfalls an unserem von Millet signierten Halbschrank wiederzufinden ist (siehe Lot 1028). Diese Postamente sind im verspielt pittoresken Rokoko-Stil der Periode Louis XV gestaltet und veranschaulichen die Wiederbelebung und Neuinterpretierung der "Neo-Stile" im späten 19. Jh. Aufgrund der vorhandenen Monogramme MB auf den Rückseiten gewisser Bronzen ist anzunehmen, dass es sich um ein Erzeugnis von Blaise Millet handelt, Gründer des gleichnamigen Unternehmens Maison Millet. Blaise Millet war bis 1878 aktiv für die Firma tätig, bevor das Unternehmen von seinem Sohn Théodore Millet weitergeführt wurde. Dieses mit * (Asterisk) bezeichnete Objekte ist vollumfänglich mehrwertsteuerpflichtig, d. h. bei diesen Objekten wird die MWST auf den Zuschlagspreis plus Aufgeld berechnet. Käufer, die eine rechtsgültig abgestempelte Ausfuhrdeklaration vorlegen, erhalten die MWST rückvergütet.
