On the handle, a very nice hot stamping 84 RIR 1.B. for 1er bataillon du 84e régiment d'infanterie de réserve. Brown leather shovel carrier, marked TD for Truppen Depot, the corps number is illegible, dated 1917. Wear, fragile loops. German Entrenching Tool, RIR84, with Carrier Straight-blade German shovel Model 1874, marked "RIR84" on the blade and "I.B.K.191" on the reverse. Handle with fine hot-stamped marking "84 RIR 1.B." for 1st Battalion, 84th Reserve Infantry Regiment. Brown leather carrier marked "TD" for Truppen Depot, corps number illegible, dated 1917.
