TABLE HANGER IN THE FORM OF A LYRUS, LATE 18th - EARLY 19th CENTURY
With hour and half chime
Made of gilt brass in the shape of a lyre, the shoulders in the form of eagles each carrying a bell suspended from a ring, the dial flanked by laurel leaves and encircled by brilliants in red, green and mauve glass as well as the upper part of the lyre; the whole surmounted by a head of Apollo and standing on a rectangular base adorned with a plaque depicting cherubs playing around a ram at harvest time; white enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals for the quarter hours, openworked gilt brass hands, central seconds hand with blued steel hand; round two-barrel movement, pin escapement mounted on the outside of the plate like the count wheel, single balance wheel, steel stem, wire suspension, striking on a gong; accidents to the dial.
