A gilt bronze "gardener's love" clock depicting a lover perched on a ladder preparing to catch a butterfly resting on an orange tree trough. The decoration is embellished with gardening implements such as a shovel, rake and watering can. The white enamelled movement with Arabic numerals is inscribed in the orange tree trough and signed "Boulu E[lè]ve de Lepine, horloger to the Empress". The set rests on a rectangular base with a central projection supported by four ball feet. Empire period Height 31 cm. Width 27 cm. Depth: 9 cm. Chips and cracks to the dial. Pendulum missing. Wire suspension (broken). Original movement, not guaranteed, to be revised.
