The back plate bears the signature of Charles Goret in Paris Circa 1700 H. 65 cm - W. 47 cm - D. 24 cm Luxurious clock in need of restoration Movement to be overhauled: a gong and the seconds hand are missing Missing marquetry (tortoiseshell and trim), missing mouldings, elements to be refixed (three out of four columns detached, one ring to be refixed and one missing, detached cap), restorations. By a deed dated 14 February 1689, Charles Goret, son of Charles Goret and Catherine Prevost, was received as "Master clockmaker in small volumes in Paris according to the privileges of the galleries [of the Louvre] with the consent of the jurors".
