Pendulum clock au Sanglier.
Paris. Around 1750. Design Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain.
Bronze, partly patinated and parcel-gilt. Circular enamel dial with Roman numerals and Arabic minutes. Large 14 days Swiss style pendulum clockwork, surrounded by verge movement on lever movement with spring suspension. Under-dial striking work on verso. 4/4 strike and repeater on two bells. Height 50cm. Condition B.
Signed on verso of base.
Opulent Louis XV clock. Saint-Germain's animal design clocks were highly popular. The piece offered here is one of the rare works signed by Saint-Germain.
