Pentti SARPANEVA (1925-1978)* - Finland Important art brut necklace in bronze with a triangular openwork graphic shape centred on a cabochon which could be onyx. Probably signed in 1973. Dimensions of pendant: 11.2 x 7 cm. Chain length: approx. 63 cm. Gross weight: 89.3 g. Pentti Sarpaneva belongs to a family of artists. His brother Timo Sarpaneva is well known for his glassmaking, while Pentti is more interested in rough forms in bronze and silver. He studied at the School of Fine Arts and the Helsinki School of Industrial Arts. He worked with Kalevala Koru and then Turun Hopea Oy in the 1960s. Two of his jewels are in the British Museum: inv. nos. 2014,8036.5 and 2014,8036.7.
