Lot no. 7
FINE PEARLS Drop necklace of 78 round, oval and button-shaped fine sea water pearls between 3.9 and 8.7 mm. Platinum clasp set with diamonds and a synthetic ruby. Some of the pearls are damaged and lack luster, while others have very good luster and irridescence. LFG gemological report of 14/11/24 nr. 413825 indicating that the pearls are seawater and fine, with no indication of treatment. Cream to light golden colour. Their colours, quite different from white pearls, could probably indicate an origin from the Persian Gulf, not confirmed in the gemological report. Length: 39 cm. Gross weight: 23.2 g. The difference between fine pearls and cultured pearls is whether they are natural or the result of human intervention (such as the inclusion of a nucleus in the oyster's pearl sac). Fine pearls are therefore very rare because they are produced exclusively by natural means and are therefore the accumulation of layers of mother-of-pearl from the centre to the last layer.
