PERU
Anthropomorphic pot or jug in moulded terracotta, polychrome, Chancay period (1100-1400), with globular body and handle. The tubular neck, flared at the top, is decorated with a human face in bas-relief, almond-shaped eyes and incised mouth, corners of the mouth marked with deep punctuation, large ear discs, arms with a ceremonial vessel between the hands in relief. The body is decorated with parallel vertical black and white stripes.
H. 12 x W. 10.5 cm.
