In-4°, bound in full red calf, spine with 5 raised bands decorated with gilt boxes and gilt title, beautiful framed roulettes on the spine flaps, ex-libris R. Talanti gilt on the first spine flap, printed covers preserved (Ghione-Torino). First edition, one of 200 copies on Hollande hors commerce (no. 173). It is illustrated with a map of the Mont Blanc massif by Charles Vallot and Étienne de Larminat, and numerous handsome photographic vignettes printed in sepia from original photographs in the author's personal collection and, for the Italian side of Mont Blanc, by Vittorio Sella, Gugliermina Frères and Bottega d'arte alpina.

George Henry Morse (1857 - 1931) was an English businessman and politician (he was mayor of Norwich), mountaineer and president of the Alpine Club from 1926 to 1929: it was in this capacity that he was sent this book.
