French doctor Louis Perrier had a thousand ideas but meagre resources.
It was in 1903 that he found his patron, with the British man St John Harmsworth. The sparkling mineral water from Les Bouillens had left the world of cures and medicines to become an elite product, with a sparkling elegance and a British market, as Perrier was virtually unknown in France. The company was incorporated in 1906.
It has borne the royal coat of arms since 1905, joining the prestigious Fortnum and Mason, Twinnings and Lipton brands as a licensed supplier to H.M. the King of England. It is said that it was Sir Thomas Lipton who introduced Edward VII to Perrier.
The Perrier spring was recognised as being of public interest on 19 May 1933 (Source: perrier.com).
