PERSIA Muzaffar al-Din Shah (AH1313-1324 /1896-1907) Gold medal (tested 900/1000), 15.46g, 35.8mm diameter, 1.40mm thick, AH1319/1901, 3/4 bust right, within oak wreath, inscriptions above and date below, rev. lion holding sword left with sun radiate behind, surmounted by wreath, no inscription below ground line, all within wreath of laurel and oak, smooth edge, dull blank, medal struck (obverse: see KM.Pn31, reverse: see KM.Pn24). Note: In the collection of the cabinet des médailles de Bruxelles, there are two trials of Toman, weighing 2.53g and 2.55g respectively, as well as a trial of 2 Toman weighing 4.97g, all three struck at the Brussels mint in coinage on a matt blank and smooth edge. Formerly mounted, hairlines, knocks, almost superb.
