Hldr. in the style of the period with gilt title on cover and spine, leather corners and marbled boards. Rare, currently not traceable for us in international trade. - The volume was originally published in 4 instalments: 1st vol. 1843: Containing: the remodelling of the Royal Civil Cabinet House at Sanssouci. 2nd vol. 1843: Containing: the remodelling of the court gardener Sello's official residence in Sanssouci. 3rd vol. 1845: Containing: The Villa Schöningen at the Glieniker Brücke near Potsdam. 4th and last vol. 1849 Without title page. Remodelling of the house for the Privy Cabinet Councillor of His Majesty the King in Sanssouci. Remodelling of the Meierei in the Royal New Garden near Potsdam. Remodelling of the ferryman's house at Sacrow near Potsdam. - Friedrich Ludwig Persius (1803-1845 in Potsdam), was a pupil of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and later court architect to Friedrich Wilhelm IV. He supported Schinkel in the development and construction of the Charlottenhof and the Roman Baths in Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. He was also involved in the construction of the Great Fountain (in front of Sanssouci Palace), the Church of Peace, the Orangery and the Norman Tower (on the Ruinenberg, opposite Sanssouci Palace). In 1841, Frederick William IV appointed Persius as his court architect. In 1842, he became a royal building councillor and member of the Chief Building Directorate. In 1843/44, Persius also worked for Prince Pückler-Muskau, among others. - Present without delivery wrappers, endpapers renewed, some foxing throughout (some more heavily affected), some spotting in the margins and occasional small restored defects or losses, the plate section with a more pronounced dampstain in the upper margin. Overall a well-preserved, extremely rare copy with differentiated plates. With 24 engraved and/or chromolith. plates. Mod. half leather binding in the style of the period with gilt title on cover and spine, leather corners and marbled boards. - Rare, currently not verifiable for us in international trade. - The volume was originally published in 4 deliveries - Friedrich Ludwig Persius (1803-1845 in Potsdam), was a pupil of Karl Friedrich Schinkel and later court architect to Friedrich Wilhelm IV. - Our copy without delivery wrappers, endpapers renewed, due to paper somewhat browned and some foxing throughout (partly slightly stronger affected), some staining in the margins and occasional small restored defects or losses, the plate section with increasing dampstain in the upper margin. Overall a well-preserved, exceptionally rare copy with differentiated plates.
