SMALL BOX - SAGEDANSU
Rectangular incense box with profiled edges (kara-tomen), in gold lacquer fading to brown and enhanced with mura-nashiji, decorated on the outside with gold and silver usuniku-takamaki-e, kirigane and aogai flakes, featuring water iris, water lily, lily of the valley, hollyhock; A door on one side revealing three drawers decorated with different motifs, cherry blossoms on hirame-ji, pine needles and bamboo leaves on aogai mosaic backgrounds, the reverse of the door decorated with orchids; the interior and the base of the troirs in nashiji; the whole enhanced by ornate shibuichi fittings chased with karakusa, and a small handle at the top.
