Petit (Victor). Memories of the Pyrenees. Bagnères de Luchon, Dulon, circa 1855. Oblong folio, bound in half-chagrin, boards in percaline with cold decoration, title and ornaments gilt on the first board, smooth spine decorated, gilt edges (Publisher's binding). New edition, illustrated with a polychrome title with watercoloured vignette, and 39 off-text lithographs, including 3 doubles and 2 triples, finely watercoloured, some with gouache highlights, others gummed. An exceptional copy, very full, very fresh, free of foxing, in superb period colours. Victor Petit (Troyes, 1817 - Aix-les-Bains 1871), a pupil of Jean-Siméon Fort, is best known for his views of the Pyrenees. From the end of the 1840s, he frequented the spas, and published collections of variable compositions devoted to each spa town and its surroundings: Luchon, Bagnères de Bigorre, Cauterets, Saint-Sauveur, Barèges, les Eaux bonnes, les Eaux chaudes...
